The quadriennial Joint Meeting of North American and Bulgarian Scholars has alternated between venues in Bulgaria and North America for the past 36 years.  This is the first time the conference will be held on the West Coast.  The conference site is the campus of the University of Oregon in the Emerald State, and the menus of the conference reception and banquet will celebrate Oregon's local salmon, produce, and wines.

The conference panels will meet on May 31 and June 1, followed by an optional excursion on June 2 to Crater Lake, the jewel in Oregon's crown.  Crater Lake, which was formed by the eruption of Mount Mazama 7,700 years ago, is a sacred site to several Native American tribes, and on clear days is a spectacular deep electric blue.  Click on the link to read more about Crater Lake
