In order to declare the Linguistics major or minor, students must meet with one of the Linguistics Undergraduate Advisors. During this initial meeting, the student and the Director of Undergraduate Studies will discuss the structure of the major, how to select appropriate elective courses, and establish a preliminary schedule of coursework that will result in a timely graduation. After this initial consultation, the Director of Undergraduate Studies will sign the Major/Minor Add Form, and the student will become an official Linguistics Major/Minor. Forms are located in the Department of Linguistics main office: Straub 161.
Afterwards, students are encouraged to review their program with the undergraduate advisor on an annual basis. It is particularly important that this be done prior to the student’s senior year so that all university and major requirements can be completed prior to the intended graduation date.
The Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Lingusitics for academic year 2019-20 is Prof. Melissa Baese-Berk (firstname.lastname@example.org).
